Henry my understanding and I stand to be corrected is that peers who are appointed as a minister ie David Cameron are not subject to cross examination or the scrutiny as elected MP’s.

I also agree with previous comment regarding the position of members of the numerous Quangos performing the role of pseudo ministries. They are not elected and are not just performing an advisory role. They formulate policy which is then accepted at ministerial level and potentially introduced into legislation.

I see nothing in what Nigel Farage has to say that suggests anything to cause great concern. If this improves government efficiency and is able to counteract the inefficiency of our civil service, I think we should wholeheartedly support the initiative.

Surely we have these now - Quangos?.

The Civil Service basically tell the elected ministers what they can and can't do.

Makes no sense.
